Your start date will vary depending on the Fast Stream scheme you applied to. Most schemes commence in September or October of the following year.
You cannot choose your department. Assignment depends on existing vacancies and where scheme managers believe you will best fit.
The Fast Stream is designed to develop leaders for the whole Civil Service. You might be surprised by the variety of departments that can cater to your interests and provide excellent opportunities for your development.
You can’t choose where you work but your location preferences will be considered. Fast Streamers need to be mobile and flexible. Relocation at least once during the programme is common.
Requests based on personal circumstances, like caring responsibilities, will be considered but cannot be guaranteed.
