There are 17 different schemes on the Fast Stream, each with high-quality, structured learning and a career path within a government profession.
Many schemes involve working in different government departments, some involve working overseas and some provide an opportunity to study for a professional qualification. Fast Streamers cannot choose their department, specific role, or location – you may be placed anywhere in England, Scotland or Wales. Relocation assistance up to £2,000 is available on some schemes. Find out more about Fast Stream locations.
You can apply for up to 4 schemes.
If you’re currently an undergraduate, you might be interested in our Summer Internship Programme.
See Civil Service recruitment nationality rules for information about nationality, immigration and right to work criteria.
Find and favourite the schemes you may be eligible for. Check the full entry requirements on each scheme.
The Houses of Parliament (HOP) Graduate Scheme is not part of the Civil Service Fast Stream, but you can apply for it alongside the Fast Stream as one of your four preferences.
On this scheme, you’ll be based in either the House of Commons or the House of Lords. You can express a preference at final interview if you’d like and we’ll do our best to take it into account. You’ll be employed directly by whichever House you work for, rather than the Civil Service.
