Where you’ll work
Fast streamers cannot choose their department, specific role, or location – you may be placed anywhere in England, Scotland and Wales.

Fast streamers are expected to be mobile and flexible – most fast streamers will need to relocate at least once during the programme. We will consider requests to work in specific locations based on personal circumstances, like caring responsibilities. But we cannot guarantee suitable posts will be available in every location.
More and more posts are available outside of the South East, and there are many opportunities available in different parts of Great Britain.
Relocation assistance
Relocation support of up to £2,000 is available for successful centrally managed Fast Stream candidates from their first posting. It may be paid on each occasion the fast streamer needs to temporarily move to be within reasonable travel distance of a post, whilst on one of the centrally managed Fast Stream schemes. Currently, this support is only available to the candidate once the fast streamer has started on the scheme.
Moving to a new place
Fast streamers are supported by a range of networks and groups when they relocate for their postings. These include regional and social mobility networks.
There are lots of ways you can prepare to move home:
- think about the type of area you want to live in and the commuting distance to work
- go to the area a few times so you can experience the place at different times of day
- try out the transport you will be using for your work and social life
- find out if there is a local Facebook group for fast streamers
