Our Commitment
to Diversity and Inclusion

DCMS embraces inclusivity, individuality and independent thought – we want people from all backgrounds to be their authentic self and feel valued and supported at work.

Our ambition is to be the most diverse and inclusive department in the UK Government by 2025. We will do this by focusing on three issues – we will:

  • increase ethnicity, disability and gender representation and DCMS’ ranking on social mobility in comparison to other government departments
  • close the ‘inclusion gap’ between majority and minority groups in DCMS such as white and minority ethnic colleagues, cis heterosexual and LGBT⁺ colleagues
  • build our understanding and challenge our biases so that we eradicate racism and embed diversity and inclusion in ourselves, our sectors, suppliers and Public Bodies

What our people say

Max

DCMS has a caring culture. Leaders are approachable, often thanking all employees for their contributions to DCMS and sharing what they love about the work that DCMS is doing. It’s a great organisation to work for.

Hafsah

I recently joined DCMS after graduating from University and the process has been seamless. I have felt very welcomed into the team and the department. It’s an incredibly supportive and inclusive environment to work in.

Jon

I recently joined DCMS after several years working in the private sector. There is clearly a diverse, inclusive and collaborative culture here, and a strong focus on staff wellbeing across the department.
