Our Estates teams
They make sure that everything the Estates teams do is joined up and aligned to strategy. They are responsible for:
- recruitment and workforce planning
- learning and development
- equality, diversity and inclusion
- business planning
- performance monitoring
- information management
- governance and assurance
- communication of strategies and guidance
- freedom of information requests, parliamentary questions and ministerial briefings
- people and equality impact assessments
They make sure that HMRC’s working environments are safe and secure. They also manage other important building services. The team is responsible for:
- providing assurance on health and safety and fire safety
- hard and soft facilities management contracts
- supplier management
- service planning and improvements
- asset management
- building security
- mail and courier services
- counter-terrorism
- reducing waste
They’re a team of chartered surveyors and project managers, who are experts in property deals and commercial negotiations. Their work includes:
- property strategy
- acquiring new properties
- property management
- property services
- exiting and closing properties
- manage relationships with landlords, agents, developers, funders and other government departments
- understanding capacity to help strategic decisions
- provide strategic planning and customer insight
They specialise in construction, engineering, digital estate, health and safety, and sustainability. They are responsible for:
- construction and fit out
- procurement and management of professional services contracts
- transforming data into insight for colleagues
- developing and monitoring standards, policies and strategic plans
- innovation of technology, data, operation models and processes
- supporting health and safety, fire safety, building services, physical security, and sustainability
- maintaining safe, secure and accessible workplaces
They manage the day-to-day operation of HMRC’s estate. They ensure the buildings are safe, secure and provide excellent customer service. Their work involves:
- addressing all health and safety risks
- working with other Estates teams to ensure co-ordination between strategic and operational contract management
- conducting and acting on building risk assessments
- making sure we meet compliance requirements
- defining, maintaining and testing business continuity plans
They ensure our buildings are inclusive and accessible for everyone. They do this by working with colleagues to design workplaces that meet their needs. Their work involves:
- designing and improving services
- collecting and feedback and building data
- testing solutions and improvements
- managing furniture, fittings and equipment contracts
This team leads the planning and delivery of construction and estates projects. They are responsible for:
- end-to-end delivery of all HMRC buildings through programme management
- clearance and closure of buildings
- improvements to existing workplaces
- fitting new office spaces
- internal reorganisation of office spaces
