Getting to DfTc Leeds

By Rail

Wellington Place is just a 7-minute walk from Leeds train station.

The fastest walking route is along Whitehall Road. Other options include the River Aire or Canal Path, or along Wellington Street.

By Bus

There are multiple bus stops serving the surrounding area located in the centre of Leeds.

Bus routes and times can be found on the โ€ฏWest Yorkshire Metro website.

By Bike

Wellington Place has ample bicycle storage on site.

Shower facilities and individual changing areas are available in the basement, including one accessible shower and a drying room for damp kit, towels etc.

Free bicycle servicing

Wellington Place Central offers your bicycle some TLC. Bike servicing sessions are regularly run inโ€ฏTower Squareโ€ฏwith experts from โ€ฏWoodrup Cycles.

You can have a full bicycle assessment and any basic repairs such as gear adjustment, inflation of tyres, wheel tuning, bike oiling and more.

This service is offered completely free of charge to all Wellington Place occupiers. However, please note that it does not include any replacement parts.

By Car

There is no commuter car parking at Wellington Place.

By Park and Ride

Park and ride is a cheap and convenient way of getting to Wellington Place. There are 3 park and ride sites in Leeds:

  • Elland Road (PR1): this service directly serves Wellington Place from stop Wellington N on Whitehall Road, as shown onโ€ฏthis map.โ€ฏThe PR1 also serves stop TP on Boar Lane.
  • Temple Green (PR2): the closest bus stop for the PR2 service is Stop TL on Lower Briggate
  • Stourton (PR3):  the closest stop for the PR3 service is Stop TK on Lower Briggate/Stop SE on Neville Street, as shown on this map

Parking is free and you just pay for the bus.

Rail-based park and ride also exist at Apperley Bridge, Kirkstall Forge and Low Moor.

The Colmoreโ€ฏBuilding is a short walk from all City Centre stations:

  • Moor Street โ€“ 10 minute walk
  • Show Hill โ€“ 2 minute walk
  • New Street โ€“ 9 minute walk
By Metro

You can catch the Metro from Grand Central to Bull Street, fromโ€ฏwhere the Colmore Building is approximately a 2-minute walk.
The tram goes to Wolverhampton, through West Bromwich or toโ€ฏCentenary Square and The Library in Birmingham.

The local bus stops are at Priory Queensway, about a 4-minute walkโ€ฏfrom The Colmore Building. Starting from ยฃ3 per journey.

The Colmore Building has a secure bicycle storage area (105 spaces) within theโ€ฏbuildingโ€™s car park, accessible via the entrance off Printing House Street.

Changing rooms, drying out room and shower facilities are available on the same level.

By Car

There are no parking facilities at The Colmore Building. There is nearby  (paid) parking at B4 car park onโ€ฏWeamanโ€ฏStreet.

DfT has a limited number of accessible parking spaces in the basement. If you require use of one of theseโ€ฏspaces, the Birmingham Support Team will authorise access for you.

Local electric car charge pointsThere is a single Charging Station inโ€ฏTemple Row, B2 5NY. Alternatively, thereโ€ฏare 2 charging bays at Snow Hill Multi-Storey Car Park, Snow Hill, B3 2BJ.
