Heather’s story

Heather Crawford, SLC Service Desk Manager, was the winner of our Exceptional Leadership Award at the 2024 People Star Awards.

The Service Desk Manager joined SLC’s Glasgow team in 2019 as a Customer Advisor within the Repayment Recoveries team. During Covid she jumped at the opportunity to assist with the Service Desk and hasn’t looked back since – moving permanently to the department as a Service Desk Analyst in 2021 before being promoted to her current role in 2022.

She said: “Technology and customer service are my strong points, so a support team which combined the two was right up my street. I thrived in this environment and with the help of my teammates and manager, quickly became an integral member of the team.

“In November 2022 I was successful in gaining the role of Service Desk Manager. Taking what I had learnt as an analyst and applying it to this role, as well as learning people management skills was a step into the unknown, however I love a challenge! The unwavering support of my team and promotion of a hugely positive working environment mean that coming to work is an enjoyable experience for us all.”
