Office spotlight
Take a look at our Wolverhampton and Darlington offices below.
Wolverhampton is our new dual headquarters.
Moving to the i9 building has brought hundreds of Civil Service jobs to the city and the West Midlands. We want to have a workforce that represents the diversity and talent of the region.
Over 250 people work here, and it will have a frequent ministerial presence – just like a Whitehall department.
The Darlington Economic Campus is a pioneering new cross-government hub.
The Campus will bring together departments and public organisations. It will make a real difference internationally as well as in the UK.
Working at the Campus means working at the heart of government. You’ll also get fantastic benefits and career opportunities.
Where we work
Leading the Way
• We are committed to becoming a more outward-facing department. We must reflect the diverse communities we serve.
• We have opened our second headquarters in Wolverhampton and our new hub in the Northern Economic Campus in Darlington
• Going forward, we want to ensure that more diverse thought shapes government policy. Also, we want to promote more career opportunities outside of London.

Krishma Sawami
Performance and Line Management Lead
Hear from our colleague Krishma
“I’ve been in MHCLG for seven years, joining the department as an EO apprentice and worked my way up. I’ve had the opportunity to work across a range of teams, each one showing me the impact our work has on communities.
I’m now the Performance and Line Management Lead for the department, where I’m responsible for ensuring our people feel supported, valued, and empowered.
A core part of my role is helping our managers build the confidence and capability they need to support their teams effectively so that everyone can thrive.
I’m also incredibly proud that we’ve developed a first‑in‑class Line Manager Capability Offer—equipping both our current and aspiring managers with the tools, skills, and behaviours they need to succeed.”
