Martina Kopecka – Social Housing and Resettlement Directorate, Senior Programme Officer, PMO

“Working on Homes for Ukraine and Resettlement programmes, I am reminded almost daily in the media why the work we carry out is so important. My colleagues and line manager have been supporting me to gain professional qualification and ensure I can bring the gained knowledge into practice. I am encouraged by them to use the great variety of learning and development opportunities that MHCLG offers – from formal qualification to mentoring, access to masterclasses and other lunch & learn events.”

Áine Cunningham – Head of PMO, Electoral Integrity Programme

“I joined MHCLG and the Electoral Integrity Programme in 2022 as a Risk and Issues Manager and I’ve since been promoted to Head of the Programme Management Office (PMO). I have enjoyed working in the profession as I have a very supportive team and I have had access to great learning and development opportunities which has allowed me to become accredited in the Government’s PD scheme.”

Maheen Khan – Head of Portfolio Management Office – Safer Greener Buildings Stewardship Portfolio.

“I joined MHCLG in 2019, the range of access to training both formal and informal across the Department is both incredible and strongly supported. I have achieved formal qualifications both myself and also supported my team members in achieving these. There is access to work with teams and gain experience across a range of PPM disciplines including risk management, governance, planning and performance reporting.”

Ciara Billings – Project Manager

“I am a Project Manager within the Property Team here at MHCLG, joining in 2020. I love being able to deliver a tangible difference to the department’s workspaces across the UK to allow others to work effectively on the department’s priorities. My job involves the whole project lifecycle from planning through to delivery and closure, and includes staff engagement, contractor management and liaising with others across the Corporate Group.

The PD offer within MHCLG has improved significantly over the last couple of years, now there is a whole programme of interesting events organised by our Project Delivery colleagues and I have had the opportunity to access Project Delivery training when I’ve needed it, currently working towards my Project Delivery Accreditation.”

Mohammed Malik – Head of Portfolio Management Office

“I joined MHCLG to make a difference in the real world, to help people in their communities and homes and I am really proud to say that my work contributes to my ambition. MHCLG has provided me with many learning opportunities to further progress my CPD journey and successfully achieve a formal project delivery accreditation. The introduction of GOST (Government Online Skills Tool) has been particularly valuable to myself in identifying areas for improvement and recommended pathways in achieving the next stage in my career.”
