“Working compressed hours has without a doubt changed my life. I joined DCMS from a private sector company where overtime was an expectation. After I had my daughter I realised that that lifestyle wouldn’t work for my family but worried about the financial implications of working part-time. When offered the role at DCMS I was consulted on what working pattern would work for me, compressed hours (whereby I earn a full-time salary and work full-time hours but across 4 days instead of 5) made total sense. There are days when I have to leave early to pick up my daughter but having the option to log on later or start work a little earlier takes away any pressure or guilt that working parents sometimes feel!”

“When I ended up taking some time off work for my mental health, I knew I needed to do something different in a new environment. I was experiencing low mood and anxiety, and was struggling to sleep at night. At the time, I was only 23. There had to be more to life than doing a job that was not making me happy!

Which is where DCMS came along. My recruitment experience at DCMS was incredibly positive and whilst I didn’t secure the role I initially interviewed for, the feedback was comprehensive and valuable. Soon after, I was onboarded into a different role within DCMS and I haven’t looked back.”
