So, it doesn’t matter if you are fresh out of school or college or simply looking to build or adapt your career path, this apprenticeship is for you.

Working for the Civil Service offers a chance to make a real difference, with opportunities for professional development, a good work-life balance, and a strong sense of community, all while contributing to vital public services.

Eligibility

To apply you will need:

  • to be aged 16 or older and not in full time education.
  • at least two GCSEs at grades 9-4/A-C or equivalent.
  • to pass security vetting checks relevant to all employment positions

About the Role

The application window will open in August 2025, with interviews planned for October. Successful candidates will be notified by the end of November, before pre-employment checks and security vetting. Candidates will then be onboarded into their Civil Service department from December, ahead of the formal start of the apprenticeship learning in early 2026.

All places on the Civil Service Career Launch apprenticeship will:

  • be in a Civil Service government department
  • be on a 2 year fixed term contract
  • see you enrolled on a Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship
  • have a starting salary of at least £23,512 based on 37 hours per week
  • be at Administrative Officer (AO) grade
  • be matched to a role in your chosen city (Birmingham, London or Manchester)

These exciting opportunities will enable you to earn whilst you learn, working towards your Level 3 Business Administrator qualification, equivalent to 2 A-levels. You will be given time to complete your off-the-job training and work towards your qualification, using that learning in your day job to further your skills and develop your career.
